BYD Company Limited, one of the world’s largest supplier of rechargeable batteries, headquartered in China, and SMA Solar Technology AG, headquartered in Niestetal, Germany, are pleased to announce their cooperation in qualifying BYD’s newly developed energy storage product B-Box battery for usage with the SMA Sunny Island battery inverters. BYD’s B-Box will be launched and accept reservation synchronously at the Intersolar Europe, June 10 – 12, 2015 in Munich, Germany.

“The qualifying processes are going on well, and we are confident that in the very near future the B-Box will be fully recognized and supported by SMA for use with the Sunny Island inverters”, says Martin Rothert, SMA Director of Product Management. says Martin Rothert, SMA Director of Product Management.

Regarding the core technology, the iron phosphate battery, B-Box utilizes materials of high thermal stability and careful process design. Through a variety of strict destructive testing and safety testing, safety and reliability of iron phosphate batteries have been greatly improved. With regard to its performance, iron phosphate batteries have a wide range of output power to meet heavy load applications, high discharge currency, extensible capacity, free and flexible utilization, off-grid and on-grid usage, as well as worldwide applicability, and a long battery life. As the world's first to achieve the commercialization of an iron phosphate battery, BYD has applied the battery to all types of energy storage power stations and in some other areas.

As a Warren Buffett backed Chinese company, BYD has developed a reputation as a Global New-Energy powerhouse over the past few years. The company has made it clear that they committed to make the leading solution to the worlds growing environmental problems. Facing the increasing competition in new energy market globally, It is the key strategic step for BYD B-BOX to cooperate with SMA Sunny Island Inverter.
