[Munich, Germany, June10, 2015] – This Wednesday, June 10, BYD Company Limited – the world’s leading rechargeable battery and pure electric vehicle manufacturer – has brought to this year’s Intersolar Expo in Munich its innovative “Ice & Fire” concept for their latest technological breakthroughs, comprising three outstanding solutions: the BYD PV Module 2.0, the BYD B-Box and the BYD Mini ES. Ice and Fire represent the two extremes to which BYD’s solar panels and storage units are exposed to during their test phase. The company is very thorough in its testing, which aims chiefly at quality, endurance and safety. In its “hail test”, their new double glass PV panels are bombarded with high-speed 50mm solid balls of ice. As for the batteries that integrate the Energy Storage Systems, those endure exposure to extremely high temperatures by being placed directly onto an open fire for lengthened periods of time.

The absolutely successful results obtained in such extreme tests inspired the company to devise its “Ice and Fire” concept, and the launch event featured an actual “hail test” at the venue, so attendees could witness the 50mm ice balls hitting the panels at high speeds right before their eyes. “I thought the glass wasn’t going to stand it, the noise was so loud. I’m really impressed that there was no damage,” said an event attendee. For obvious safety reasons, the battery fire test could only be shown on video, in which the battery cells swell but never burst, and the audience was equally impressed.

Over the past few years, BYD has earned a reputation as a Global New-Energy powerhouse. The company has made it clear that they want to be the leading energy solution providers to the world’s pressing environmental problems, but it also places extreme importance to the quality, efficiency and safety of whatever it produces. The BYD PV Module 2.0, BYD B-Box and BYD Mini ES have already gained access to overseas markets. Facing increasing competition in the global new energy sector, this is a key strategic move for BYD PV and DESS to mark a strong presence in the global market. All three solutions launched in the “Ice & Fire” event rely on BYD’s proven quality, as well as exceed the highest official standards of efficiency, performance, reliability and safety.

BYD PV Module 2.0

A new generation PV module featuring about 70% less silver paste usage, efficiency improvement of 10W per panel, up to 50 years’ service time, 0.3% annual power degradation rate, lifetime PID free, minimized snail trail, IP67 certified, hail proof, increased mechanical strength, high temperature and high humidity endurance. This new BYD photovoltaic platform represents the durability, efficiency and reliability of its module offerings. The new double-glass modules surpass all standards for 1500 Volt systems, and will reduce system depletion as well as ensure higher yields for large scale photovoltaic power stations.

BYD B-Box

Relying on BYD’s unique proprietary core technology, the iron-phosphate battery, the B-Box is built with high thermal stability materials after a careful design process. The safety and reliability of the iron-phosphate battery were greatly improved through a variety of strict destructive and safety testing. With regards to performance, the BYD iron-phosphate batteries have a broad range of power outputs to meet high-demand applications. Additionally to its lengthened lifetime, it features high discharge currents, extensible capacity, free and flexible utilization, off-grid and on-grid usage, as well as worldwide applicability. As the world's first to achieve successful commercialization of iron-phosphate batteries, BYD has applied this solution to all types of energy storage power stations and in some other applications. Production of the B-box battery cells is high precision and 100% automated, in a strictly controlled environment, at a speed of one battery cell every two seconds.

BYD Mini ES

The Mini ES is an all-in-one, 3KWh energy storage system designed for household use with 10 years warranty. Easy to install – home owners can do it themselves – it is compact, quiet and smart. It can be monitored remotely through IOS and Android smartphone applications. It is ideal to support household appliances daily use.
